What is the truth, Ruth? De Cinéclub brengt Spike Lee’s klassieker DO THE RIGHT THING terug in de bioscoop! The film is a humorous yet intense tale of racial tensions in Bedford Stuyvesant, a black neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. We follow pizza delivery boy Mookie (played by Spike Lee himself), a black man who works for Italian Sal and his hothead of a son Pino. When local resident Buggin’ Out (Giancarlo Esposito) demands that Sal put pictures of black people on his wall, a sizzling undercurrent of conflict erupts on the neighborhood’s scorching hot streets, slowly culminating in a Shakesperean escalation. Fight the power!

At the time, Do the Right Thing garnered many Oscar nominations, although it won nothing. Now, in the eyes of critics and pundits, the film is considered one of the best of all time, and it has a spot on the United States National Film Registry.
