WIE ZIJN WIJ? 
Klimax is de pasgeboren klimaatactiegroep opgericht door RITCS-studenten. We verdiepen ons in hoe we klimaatactivisme in film kunnen betrekken, en in teken van deze vraag organiseren we op 19 februari ons eerste evenement.

WAT KAN JE VERWACHTEN?
Vanaf 19u30 zijn jullie welkom in Cinema RITCS voor een avond met cinemactivistische sprekers en -makers, studentenfilms die dit thema onderzoeken en een panelgesprek. 

We beginnen met een talk van cinemactivist Nic Balthazar (maker van onder andere klimaatdocumentaire Duty of Care en het televisieprogramma Klimaatbetoog).

Daarna vertonen we twee kortfilms. underneath it flickers is een film van lau persijn die op beeldpoëtische wijze vertelt over La Friche Josaphat, een Brussels moeras dat tot verdwijnen werd veroordeeld. De Bewaarders werd gemaakt door Juul Schöpping en gaat over de stockage van radioactief afval, materiaal dat ongelofelijk belastend is voor onze aarde en er duizenden jaren over doet om onschadelijk te worden. Afsluiten doen we met een panelgesprek tussen Klimax, Nic, Lau, Juul en natuurlijk met jullie.

WHO WE ARE:
Klimax is the brand new climate action group founded by RITCS students. We are exploring how to include climate activism in film. In pursuit of this question, we are hosting our first event on Feb. 19.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
Starting at 7:30 p.m., you are welcome to join us at Cinema RITCS for an evening of activist speakers and filmmakers, student films exploring this topic, and a panel discussion.

We will begin with a talk by cinematic activist Nic Balthazar (creator of climate documentary Duty of Care and the television program Klimaatbetoog, among others).

Then we screen two short films. underneath it flickers is a film by lau persijn that tells in a visual poetic way about La Friche Josaphat, a Brussels swamp that was condemned to disappear. De Bewaarders was made by Juul Schöpping and is about the storage of radioactive waste, material that is incredibly damaging to our earth and takes thousands of years to become harmless. We will close with a panel discussion between Klimax, Nic, Lau, Juul and of course with you.

QUI NOUS SOMMES :
Klimax est le tout nouveau groupe d’action climatique fondé par des étudiants de RITCS. Nous étudions comment inclure l’activisme climatique dans les films. Pour répondre à cette question, nous organisons notre premier événement le 19 février.

À QUOI S’ATTENDRE :
À partir de 19h30, vous êtes invités à nous rejoindre au cinéma RITCS pour une soirée avec des intervenants et des cinéastes militants, des films d’étudiants explorant ce sujet et un débat d’experts.

Nous commencerons par un exposé de l’activiste cinématographique Nic Balthazar (créateur du documentaire sur le climat « Duty of Care » et de l’émission de télévision « Klimaatbetoog », entre autres).

Nous projetterons ensuite deux courts métrages. « underneath it flickers » est un film de lau persijn qui raconte de manière visuelle et poétique La Friche Josaphat, un marais bruxellois condamné à disparaître. « De Bewaarders » a été réalisé par Juul Schöpping et traite du stockage des déchets radioactifs, un matériau incroyablement nocif pour la terre qui met des milliers d’années à devenir inoffensif. Nous terminerons par un débat entre Klimax, Nic, Lau, Juul et, bien sûr, vous.
