THE ZONE OF INTEREST is de nieuwste film van Jonathan Glazer, bekend van UNDER THE SKIN, met een fenomenale hoofdrol van Sandra Hüller (TONI ERDMANN).

In THE ZONE OF INTEREST wonen de commandant van Auschwitz, Rudolf Höss (Christian Friedel), en zijn vrouw Hedwig (Sandra Hüller) met hun gezin naast het nazi-uitroeiingskamp. Daar proberen ze hun gezinsleven vorm te geven en een ideale wereld te creëren tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog.

Jonathan Glazer won voor de film de Grand Prix van Cannes. Deze tweede prijs van het festival werd toegekend door de jury onder leiding van Ruben Östlund en werd hem overhandigd door niemand minder dan regisseur Quentin Tarantino.
